An Evening with Adam Gussow
The Como Library invites you for an evening with Adam Gussow on Friday, March 6th, from 6-8 pm.
Adam Gussow is an associate professor at the University of Mississippi, and has also worked as a professional blues musician.
For more than 30 years, Gussow recorded and toured around the world with Sterling “Mr. Satan” Magee. He has called himself “Mr. Satan’s Apprentice.” There is a documentary about the duo currently screening on Netflix, entitled "Satan & Adam".
In his latest book, Gussow analyzes blues songs about the devil, from the ’20s - present. He also addresses the supernatural aspects of West African cultures amid enslaved African-Americans from the time of emancipation through the birth of the blues.
